Permits

The MUCH Unit at SAHRA is pleased to approve the abovementioned permit application. The permit is issued under condition of compliance with the following:

1. If the permit holder is not present on the site at all times, the SAHRA must be provided with the names and contact details of his/her authorised representative(s).

2. This permit gives the holder and/or his/her authorised representative(s) the sole right to work on Saldanha Bay Fishing Harbour namely on Dolphin Jetty and Government jetty which were constructed in 1944 and Trawler Quay 1 which was constructed in the 1950’s, for the duration of the permit period.

3. All works must be limited to the activities described in the Project Description and its appendices. All activities undertaken must be for the sole purpose of

• Concrete repair and maintenance of existing marine structures on Government Jetty and Trawler Quay 1;
• Vertical pile repair on Trawler Quay 1;
• Upstanding cope wall repair on Trawler Quay 1;
• Maintenance and repair of marine furniture on Government Jetty and Trawler Quay 1 (bollards, fenders and fixings);
• Fencing off of the Dolphin Jetty.

4. This permit does not give authorisation for damage/disturbance of any cultural heritage material not mentioned in (3) above. In particular, permission is not hereby granted for the disturbance of any historic shipwrecks whatsoever. Should any cultural heritage material not mentioned in (3) be discovered and be at risk of damage/disturbance as the result of the activities undertaken under the authority of this permit, SAHRA must be notified immediately and work must cease and may not commence until feedback has been received from SAHRA. Should any shipwrecks be discovered, SAHRA must be informed of their location and this information must be included in the permit report referred to below.

5. It is the responsibility of the permit holder or her authorised representative to obtain permission from the landowner for each visit, and conditions of access imposed by the landowner must be observed.

6. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

7. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

8. The closing report for works in the Saldanha Bay Fishing Harbour must be made available to SAHRA within one month of the expiry of this permit.

9. This decision can be appealed within 14 days of the issuing of this permit.
