Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

History: This predominantly neo-Gothic building probably dates from the eighteen-fifties and was used for several decades as a school by the Wesleyans. The building has been used as a synagogue since 1908. With the two adjoining buildings, which were also originally erected by the Wesleyan Church, it forms an impressive building complex.
Visual Description: ELONGATED PLAN BELOW RIDGED AND PARAPET GABLED ROOF WITH A CENTRAL ENTRANCE IN THE GABLE. THE GALE IS SEMI-CIRCULAR IN FORM AND DECORATED WITH ORNATE PLASTER MOULDINGS. FENESTRATION MAKES USE OF 4 PANE CASEMENT WINDOWS WITH TRIANGULAR FANLIGHTS.
