Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation

The cornerstone of this impressive sandstone church building, which was designed by the Revd. J. D. Kestell, was laid by President M. T. Steyn on 12 April 1910. The church was inaugurated on 18 February 1911.

The Basuto War (1865--66) Memorial was erected in memory of two "Europeans" and one "Hottentot" who died during one of the attacks. The inscription reads "De Slag van Bethlehem, 22 Januarie 1866"
