Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

History: K2, which was occupied in ca 950 A.D., contains a wealth of stratified cultural material representing a major economical and political transitory phase in Southern Africa, namely the settlement of agriculturist-pastoralists in an area previously inhabited mainly by hunter-gatherers. Furthermore, the K2 people were involved in the development of trade with the east coast of Africa, in other words the contact between the peoples of Central Southern Africa and the traders of the Indian Ocean.
