Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Export of Permo-Triassic palynoflora slides

For temporary export of four (4) slide boxes of palynological slides from the boreholes F414 BETHAL and PA106 LINDLEY in the Free State Province

The permit is issued to Dr Bernhard Zipfel (Evolutionary Studies Institute, University of the Witwatersrand), on behalf of Dr Natasha Barbolini, (Institute for Biodiversity & Ecosystem Dynamics, University of Amsterdam) and Prof. Cynthia Looy (Department of Integrative Biology and Museum of Paleontology, University of California, Berkeley), to temporarily export four boxes of slides containing Permo-Triassic palynofloras from the Free State Province for photographic analysis at the Institute for Biodiversity & Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED), University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The material is currently housed at the Evolutionary Studies Institute, University of the Witwatersrand.

Conditions:

1. Only the selected representatives of the material stored in the collection may be exported.

2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the name of the site (if known), and the name and address of the permit holder or the Evolutionary Studies Institute, University of the Witwatersrand.

3. The material will be hand-carried by Dr. Ashley Kruger (Evolutionary Studies Institute, University of the Witwatersrand) to University of Amsterdam, Institute for Biodiversity & Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED) and back.

4. Dr Natasha Barbolini is responsible for the analysis of the material and Dr. Ashley Kruger and Dr Natasha Barbolini for its transport to and from the above mentioned institutions/collections.

5. The material must be used for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

6. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

7. No destructive analysis or sampling may be undertaken.

8. An annual report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA on or before 31 December 2018 and a final report on or before 31 December 2019.

9. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.

10. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

11. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

12. Request to renew permits must be done at least two months prior to the expiry of the existing permit.
