Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

This permit is issued to Ms Pippa Haarhoff as representative of the Management Authority of the West Coast Fossil Park National Heritage Site, for the removal of the old boardwalk and poles and replacement by a new boardwalk leading to the dig site by Vula Environmental Services as well as the upgrade of the main entrance, which includes removal of signs, filling of cracks, cleaning and painting of the walls and gates.

Conditions:

1. Monitoring will be done by P. Haarhoff and/or M. Zuidmeer together with OVP Associates.

2. The activities will consist of:

• Removal of the old pallets individually as well as poles and concrete demarcators;

• Old pallets, poles and demarcators will be reused, stored in the Green shed or recycled;

• Placement of the new pallets on the footprint of the old one plus the section leading to the small tunnel. No excavations will take place;

• Removal of sign boards from the walls at the main entrance;

• Cleaning of gates and walls;

• Painting of gates and walls.

3. All waste material and left over equipment will be removed from the site once the installation has been completed, and the site will be left in the manner it was found (save for the new installation).

4. It is understood that the WCFP NHS MA will photograph the affected area prior to the installation, and again after the installation has been completed.

5. A final report on the results of the maintenance activities should be submitted to SAHRA by the end of March 2018.

6. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

7. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
