Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Filming at Sterkfontein for "Great Nature" - a Japanese geology TV program

Conditions: 

1. Crew members on site during filming will be Miyuki Nakajima (Director), Kunihiko Ishii (Camera), Kenrou Nakajima (Sound) and Rie Suzuki (Coordinator).

2. Monitoring and supervision will be done by Dr. Dominic Stratford (Evolutionary Studies Institute, University of the Witwatersrand).

3. Filming will take place in the Sterkfontein guided walk section and grey bridge in the restricted area.

4. Filming equipment consists of three cameras, one tripod, and one drone. Note that the drone operator must be fully authorised as per South African law.

5. Filming will take place on 23 February 2018.

6. The amount of traffic, i.e. numbers of people on site, should be minimised as much as possible to avoid excessive disturbance of the site.

7. A report on activities related to the permit must be submitted to SAHRA on or before the 31 March 2018. SAHRA reserves the right to withhold further permits if a report is not received or is not satisfactory.

8. Copies of the filming resulting from this work must be lodged with SAHRA on or before the 28 February 2019.

9. SAHRA acknowledges the submitted landowner permission to film at the Rising Star caves.

10. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

11. This permit is subject to a general appeal and may be suspended should an appeal against the decisions be received by SAHRA within 14 days from the date of the permit. SAHRA may not be held responsible for any costs or losses incurred in the event of the suspension or retraction of this permit.

12. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit upon notice to the permit holder.
