Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Histological study of NMQR 3963

This permit is issued to Prof Anusuya Chinsamy-Turan (Department of Biological Sciences, University of Cape Town) for invasive sampling of three ribs, one metatarsal II, two tibiae, one radius and one fibula of Massospondylus carinatus specimen NMQR3963 from the Elliot Formation (Karoo Supergroup) for osteohistological analysis at UCT. Specimens were selected due to their uncertain provenance and fragmentary nature. The material is currently housed in the National Museum Bloemfontein.

Conditions:

1. Sampling may not reduce the structural integrity, overall completeness or the potential for future morphometric and descriptive research.

2. Analysis will take place in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Cape Town.

3. No holotype or paratype material may be sampled.

4. A permit report on the activities of this permit is due on 31 March 2019.

5. Reprints of all the published papers or copies of these and/or reports resulting from this work must be lodged with the heritage authority.

6. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries by or to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

7. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

8. Request to renew permits must be done at least two months prior to the expiry of the existing permit.

9. This permit is subject to a general appeal and may be suspended should an appeal against the decisions be received by SAHRA within 14 days from the date of the permit. SAHRA may not be held responsible for any costs or losses incurred in the event of the suspension or retraction of this permit.
