Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Export permit for PP5-6 ochre geochemical analysis

This permit is issued to Dr Wendy Black of Iziko Museum (curator of archaeology) on behalf of Mr James McGrath (University of Iowa) to permanently export ochre samples from Pinnacle 5 - 6, Mossel Bay, Western Cape. This permit allows for the export of 35 ochre samples only.  

Conditions:

  1. The objects or specimens must be clearly marked with accession numbers.
  2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the accession numbers, the name of the site, and the name and address of the permit holder or the Iziko Museums of South Africa.
  3. The material must be hand carried or sent via a reputable professional courier service unless written instructions to the contrary have been received from the repository, Iziko Museums of South Africa.
  4. The samples must be kept for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.
  5. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than Mr James McGrath and Dr Brandi MacDonald without the consent of SAHRA.
  6. A final report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA (apmpermitreports@sahra.org.za) before 28 February 2019.
  7. SAHRA will consider the export of the remaining samples on receipt of the Final Permit Report. 
  8. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.
  9. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
  10. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
