Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

This permit is issued to Prof. Rebecca Ackermann  in collaboration with Dr. Wendy Black and Prof. Eske Willerslev Center for GeoGenetics, University of Copenhagen, Denmark  for ancient DNA analysis, and Prof. Thomas Strafford, University of Aarhus AMS 14C Dating Centre, Dept of Physics & Astronomy, Denmark for AMS dating. It is noted that 20 samples will be temporary exported for the above analysis.  

Conditions:

  1. The specimens must be clearly marked with accession numbers. 
  2. The material must be carefully packed and packaging must be clearly marked with the accession numbers, the name of the site, and the name and address of Prof. Rebecca Rodgers Ackermann and Dr Wendy Black who is responsible for the export of the samples. 
  3. The material must be hand carried or send via reputable professional courier unless written instructions to the contrary have been received from the repositories where the material are curated. 
  4. The samples must be kept for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged. 
  5. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than Prof. Eske Willerslev, Center for GeoGenetics, University of Copenhagen, Denmark and Prof. Thomas Strafford, University of Aarhus AMS 14C Dating Centre, Dept of Physics & Astronomy, Denmark. 
  6. The remaining samples must be returned to the Iziko Museums of South Africa before the end of August 2019 unless otherwise indicated by SAHRA.
  7. A report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before the end of August 2019. 
  8. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA. 
  9. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons properties as a result of any activities in connection with the person. 
  10. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice of the permit holder.
