Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Destruction and Damage for Analysis and Export Permit Application OSL Samples From Umhlatuzana rockshelter

Conditions: 

The permit is issued to Dr Gerrit Dusseldorp (University of Johannesburg), in collaboration with Dr Andrew Carr (University of Leicester, UK), to permanently export 12 (twelve) sediment samples from Umhlatuzana Rock Shelter in KZN for OSL analysis at the School of Geology, Geography and Environment, University of Leicester, UK. The material is currently housed at the KwaZulu-Natal Museum, Pietermaritzburg.

Conditions:

1. Only the selected representatives of the material stored in the collection may be exported.

2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the name of the site, and the name and address of the permit holder or the KwaZulu-Natal Museum, Pietermaritzburg.

3. The material will be couriered via DHL to the School of Geology, Geography and Environment, University of Leicester, UK.

4. Dr Andrew Carr is responsible for the analysis of the material and Dr Gerrit Dusseldorp for its transport to the above mentioned institution.

5. The samples must be used for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

6. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

7. Destructive analysis or sampling may be undertaken.

8. A report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before 30 November 2019.

9. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.

10. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

11. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

12. Request to renew permits must be done at least two months prior to the expiry of the existing permit.
