Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Export of stable isotope samples from the archaeological site of Pniel 6, Northern Cape

This permit is issued to Dr David Morris (McGregor Museum, Kimberley) in collaboration with Dr Micheala Ecker to permanently export 23 enamel samples (5 mg per specimen) from the Beaumont collection (McGregor Museum) and 3 x 300g sediment samples taken from excavation buckets from the excavations carried out under a SAHRA Permit 2916 at Pniel 6. SAHRA notes that the analysis will be done at the Leibniz Laboratory for Stable Isotope Research, University of Kiel. 

Conditions:

  1. The objects or specimens must be clearly marked with accession numbers.
  2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the accession numbers, the name of the site, and the name and address of the permit holder or the McGregor Museum, Kimberley.
  3. The material must be hand carried or sent via a reputable professional courier service unless written instructions to the contrary have been received from the repository, McGregor Museum, Kimberley.
  4. The samples must be kept for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.
  5. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than Dr Micheala Ecker (University of Kiel, Germany & Archaeology Center, University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada), without the consent of SAHRA.
  6. SAHRA must be notified in writing of the return of any material, and a report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before 31 December 2020.
  7. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA. A report must be submitted to SAHRA on or before 31 December 20120
  8. Permit reports must be emailed to the following email address: apmpermitreports@sahra.org.za using the following template:  https://sahris.sahra.org.za/content/apmpermitreports
  9. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
  10. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
