Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

Merensky Phase 1 Heritage Impact Assessment

SiteComments: 

Historic period mine adit. Adit, was in use during the 1920's during prospecting for gold. (NSH1). No previous occupation was recorded in the area. However, the adit that is proposed to be mined was established in the 1920's and is thus considered a structure- relating to early mining in South African history. Although its relative importance to the history of mining is minor- Act 25 of 1999, prevents its alteration or destruction without suitable permits, issued by the Hertiage AuthoritySAHRA.
