Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Permit application for the permanent export of micromorphology sediment samples from Klasies River Main Site

The permit is issued to Mr. Peter Morrissey and Professor Sarah Wurz (University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg) to permanently export four block samples from Klasies River National Heritage Site for micro-analysis at Senckenberg Centre for Human Evolution and Palaeoenvironment, Tubingen, Germany. The samples were collected under SAHRA Permit ID: 2682.

Conditions:

1. Only the selected representatives of the samples "Klasies River Micromorphology Block Samples 2020" may be exported.

2. The samples must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the name of the site, and the name and address of the permit holder or the accessioning institution.

3. The material will be couriered to the Senckenberg Centre for Human Evolution and Palaeoenvironment, Tubingen, Germany.

4. Mr. Peter Morrissey and Dr. Susan Mentzer are responsible for the analysis of the samples and its transport to  the above mentioned institution.

6. The samples must be used for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

7. No destructive analysis or sampling may be undertaken.

8. It is noted that after the micromorphological analysis the samples will be curated at in the Geoarchaeology Collection at the Senckenberg Museum, subject to condition 10 below.

9. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

10. An analysis permit must be applied for from SAHRA's APM Unit for any future analysis that is not covered under this permit which expires (31 December 2023) and that will be done on the sedimentary samples from the Klasies River National Heritage Site that are permanently exported under this permit.

11. Annual permit reports on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be emailed to apmpermitreports@sahra.org.za on or before 31 December 2021 and 2022 with the final permit report sent on or before 31 December 2023 using the template in the following link: https://sahris.sahra.org.za/content/apmpermitreports.

12. Copies of any papers that may result from the export of the material must be lodged with SAHRA.

13. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

14. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

15. Should any legal proceedings arise with regard to this permit or the transport and loan of the material, these proceedings must be addressed within in the South African legislative framework.

16. Request to renew permits must be done at least two months prior to the expiry of the existing permit.
