Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

The permit is issued to Prof. Christopher Henshilwood (University of the Witwatersrand), on behalf of Elizabeth Catherine Veliky (University of Bergen), to temporarily export an Ochre assemblage from Klipdrift Rock Shelter (KDS) for non-destructive analysis at the University of Bergen. The Ochre assemblage is currently housed at the Iziko Museum.

1. Only the selected representatives of the material stored in the collection may be exported.

2. The material must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the name of the site, and the name and address of the permit holder or the Iziko Museum.

3. The material will be couriered via DHL  to the University of Bergen.

4. Elizabeth Catherine Veliky responsible for the analysis of the material and its transport to and from the above mentioned institution.

5. The samples must be used for study purposes only, and may not be sold or exchanged.

6. The material may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the above stated participants in the study, without the consent of SAHRA.

7. No destructive analysis or sampling may be undertaken.

8. An interim permit reports and a final report on the results of the excavations and analyses must be submitted to SAHRA each year and on or before the end of 31 March 2022. A final permit report is due on or before 31 March 2023. 

9. Reprints of all published papers or copies of theses and/or reports resulting from this work must be lodged with SAHRA. All permit reports, theses, and publications must be emailed to apmpermitreports@sahra.org.za

10. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

11. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

12. Should any legal proceedings arise with regard to this permit or the transport and loan of the material, these proceedings must be addressed within in the South African legislative framework.

13. Request to renew permits must be done at least two months prior to the expiry of the existing permit.
