GPRS scanning of possible grave site Honeydew

This permit is issued to Prof. Anton van Vollenhoven of  Archaeotnos to conduct GPR Scanning of a possible grave or burial identified during the  development phase at the Jackal Creek Golf Estate, Honeydew, Gauteng Province.

1. This test permit is issued under Section 35(4) of the National Heritage Resources Act (25 of 1999) for GPR Scanning of a possible grave.

2. Upon discovery of any part of human remains or confirmation of a burial all activities must cease, the burial and human remains must be secured adequately. The remains may not be removed and/or relocated without a specific permit from SAHRA.

3. The discovery and confirmation of a burial triggers section 36 (3) of the National Heritage Resources Act (25 of 1999) for burials older than 60 years but less than a 100 years old. The SAHRA's Burial Grounds and Graves (BGG) Unit must be contact for further assistance (Thingahangwi Tshivhase/Mimi Seetelo 012 320 8490).

4. Adequate recording methods as specified in the Regulations and Guidelines pertaining to the National Heritage Resources Act must be employed.

6. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to obtain permission from the landowner for each visit.

7. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

8. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

9. This permit is subject to a general appeal and may be suspended should an appeal against the decisions be received by SAHRA within 14 days from the date of the permit. SAHRA may not be held responsible for any costs or losses incurred in the event of the suspension or retraction of this permit.

10. Request to renew permits must be done at least two months prior to the expiry of the existing permit
