Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

This permit is issued to Anton Pelser of HCAC for Test Excavations (Trenches & Blocks) on Portions 127 & 128 of Vogelfontein 84IR, Erf 757, Boksburg, City of Ekurhuleni, Gauteng Province.

1. This  permit is issued under Section 35(4) of the National Heritage Resources Act (25 of 1999) for Test Excavations (Trenches & Blocks) to determine the significance of subsurface deposits.

2. If and when materials of potential significance are exposed during the test excavation, the said materials are to be collected and sent to Ditsong National Musuem of Cultural History for curation under this permit.

3. This permit covers Test Excavations  to be undertaken on area of a Late 19th to mid 20th century Historical Midden only.

4. Adequate recording methods as specified in the Regulations and Guidelines pertaining to the National Heritage Resources Act must be employed.

5. A permit report on the results of the test excavations must be emailed to 
apmpermitreports@sahra.org.za on or before 30 April 2023 using the template in the following link: https://sahris.sahra.org.za/content/apmpermitreports.

6. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to obtain permission from the landowner for Site visits.

7. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

8. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

9. This permit is subject to a general appeal and may be suspended should an appeal against the decisions be received by SAHRA within 14 days from the date of the permit. SAHRA may not be held responsible for any costs or losses incurred in the event of the suspension or retraction of this permit.

10. Request to renew permits must be done prior to the expiry of the existing permit.
