Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

SiteComments: 

The site is a cemetery which consists of at least 220 graves. The graves have an east-west orientation with the headstones on the western side. Although most graves are demarcated by packed rocks, some graves comprise granite and cement bases and headstones. Several juvenile graves were also noted. The following inscriptions were recorded on some of the headstones: • Gooway Vilakazi (22/03/1989 – 18/12/1996) • Belemina Lebadi Mofokeng (14/02/1914 – 12/06/1976) • Linah Maya (Died: 1974) • Pitros ?? (Died: 17/05/1954) • Sizani Bengo (Died: 09/10/1973) • Boy Shibawa Bekwange (Died: 20/08/1973) • Mary Kubeka (Died: 24/03/1967) • Simon ?? (1963 – 1966) • Agnes Khumalo (1925 – 1984) • Kastela Kumalo (Died: 1988) • Lnakana? Loushone (Died: 24/12/1988) • Sibusiso Emanual Thibela The cemetery is approximately 100 x 40 metres in extent and is situated on an elevated slope in a small valley.
