Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

Temporary Export Permit for Coelacanth Sample

Conditions: 

  1. This permit is only valid if accompanied by the attached Inventory of Permitted Objects Issued Under SAHRIS PermitID:3738. 
  2. The objects or specimens must be clearly marked with accession numbers.
  3. The specimen must be carefully packed and all packaging must be clearly marked with the accession numbers, the name of the institution, and the name and address of the permit holder.
  4. The specimen must be hand carried or sent via a reputable professional courier service unless written instructions to the contrary have been received from the repository.
  5. The specimen may not be loaned to any person or institution other than the Potsdam University and the Bavarian Collection of Zoology, without the consent of SAHRA.
  6. In accordance with the application received on 03 August 2022, should any appeal be lodged with SAHRA against the issuing of this permit within the fourteen-day appeal period, the permit will be suspended pending the outcome of the appeal.
  7. Should an appeal be lodged against the issue of this permit, the specimen must be returned to South Africa at the expense of the applicant or relevant third party;
  8. The material shall be returned to South Africa on or before 30 September 2024 at the expense of the party referred to in the Loan Agreement.
  9. SAHRA must be notified in writing of the return of the specimen, and a report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be lodged with SAHRA before 31 October 2024.
