Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

Conditions: 

1.  This permit is not transferable.  If the permit holder is not to be present on the site at all times then the heritage authority must be provided with the names and qualifications of the authorised representatives.

2. Adequate recording methods as specified in the Regulations and Guidelines pertaining to the National Heritage Resources Act must be employed.

3. This permit strictly covers the Witpoort Formation alongside the N2, from Salem Crossroads to Belmond Valley in Makhanda, Eastern Cape.

4. An accurate recording of the sites must be made, including a full photographic record of the site before and after the destruction of the site.

5. The research report must be emailed to lungiswam@ecphra.org.za or uploaded on SAHRIS on or before the expiration date of this permit.

6. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to obtain permission from the landowner for each visit, and conditions of access imposed by the landowner must be observed.

7. The heritage authority shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

8. ECPHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

 

NOTE:

  • The issuing of this permit does not exempt the applicant from compliance with any other law, where applicable.
  • This permit may be suspended should an appeal against the decisions be received by ECPHRA within 14 days of the issuing of this permit.  ECPHRA may not be held responsible for any costs or losses incurred in the event of the suspension or retraction of this permit.
