Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

Conditions: 

  • The plan of the test pits must be provided before excavation commences;
  • The destruction of the site must be pre-approved following the submission of the Phase II report;
  • The report must include a full investigation into the relationship of the subject site to the previously identified sites and provide conclusive evidence as to whether this site is one of the previously identified sites or whether it is a new site.
  • Excavated archeological material becomes the property of the KZN Amafa and Research Institute. Collection and removal of material from the site for further research or for retention in a private collection requires a permit through the submission of a Form E application;
