Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Expanded_Motivation: 

The owners wish to extend the existing warehouse for storage and receiving area. Internal alterations to the racking and fittings are proposed to the interior of the shop. No changes to the external of the existing Cape-Dutch building are proposed The site is made up of 186, 188 and 190 Chief Albert Luthuli St (previously Commercial St). A double-storey warehouse building is located on the boundary of Witness Lane (address 188-190) A double storey Cape-Dutch style building is located on Chief Albert Luthuli St (186), it was previously the Crown Hotel. The sites were consolidated when the hotel was converted to retail, to provide parking and warehouse space (date unknown). A double-storey warehouse building is located on the boundary of Witness Lane (address 188-190) A double storey Cape-Dutch style building is located on Chief Albert Luthuli St (186). It is listed in Volume 1 of “The Buildings of Pietermaritzburg” (pg664) with the following criteria : 1(a).1(b).4.5 : Local historical and architectural significance, contributing to the urban setting and quality of the adjoining square or open space.
