Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

  1. The heritage authority has noted that Mr Youngho Ahn will be responsible for the crew during the filming.
  2. The permit holder must contract a qualified professional archaeologist to monitor activities on site during filming. We understand that either Prof. Thackeray or Dr. Brain, or an archaeologist appointed by them, will undertake the monitoring. Such monitoring should take place at all times when the filming crew is on site.
  3. The archaeologist must be consulted prior to activities commencing on site to advise the crew on any archaeologically sensitive areas which must be avoided.
  4. The amount of traffic, i.e. numbers of people on site, should be minimized as much as possible to avoid excessive disturbance of the site.
  5. A report on activities related to the permit must be submitted to the heritage authority on or before the end of November 2013. The heritage authority reserves the right to withhold further permits if a report is not received or is not satisfactory.
  6. A copy of the documentary resulting from this work must be lodged with the heritage authority.
  7. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to obtain permission from the landowner for each visit, and the applicant is responsible for ensuring that he or she has an understanding with the landowner concerning: the number of visitors and workers; speed limits on access roads; possible prohibitions on off-road driving; size, type and number of vehicles permitted; possible prohibitions on trespassing beyond the site; disturbing fauna, flora or substrate; appropriate hours of visiting and working on the site; use of electricity and water; lighting fires and the prevention of uncontrolled fires and any fencing necessary to protect livestock. Conditions of access imposed by the landowner must be observed.
  8. The applicant shall be responsible for the activities and impacts of all colleagues and employees under his or her supervision and for their compliance with the terms of the permit.
  9. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to protect sites during and after filming to the satisfaction of the heritage authority and the landowner.
  10. The heritage authority shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
  11. The heritage authority reserves the right to cancel this permit upon notice to the permit holder.
