ros.devereux 17/07/2023 - 11:59 Dear Ros The Lions River Heritage Society Committee has decided not to oppose the demolition of specified parts of the old St Anne’s Hospital in the knowledge that the heritage sections of the building will be retained. Regret was expressed that the old X-Ray Department and the Chapel will be demolished as well. The former is a most interesting building and would enhance the property more that a parking area for buses, while the latter was a beautiful and meaningful part of the old hospital. With kind regards and thank you for including us in the documentation Jackie Jackie Kalley Chairperson LIONS RIVER HERITAGE SOCIETY m: 0829245892

Nelius.Scheepers 18/07/2023 - 07:56 The proponent name changed from G7 to Richtersveld Windfarm Project (Pty) Ltd. HCV Africa prepared and submitted a EA amendment authorisation appliation to DFFE, for the following changes to the approved project: 1. Number of turbines and output generation capacity - The EA authorised the construction of seventy (70) wind turbines with an output of between 2 MW - 3 MW per turbine, with a total energy generation capacity of up to 225 MW. The proposed amendment will decrease the number of wind turbines to thirty-two (32) with an output of approximately 7 MW per turbine. This provides a total potential generation capacity of 224 MW. 2. Hub height of turbines - The Hub Height of the new thirty two (32) proposed wind turbines will increase from the approved 100 m to a proposed 120 m. 3. Rotor diameter of turbines - The rotor diameter from tip of blade to tip of blade of the approved wind turbines is 117 m in extent and is increased to a rotor diameter from tip of blade to tip of blade of 155 m in extent. 4. Vertical disturbance area - he approved seventy (70) wind turbines (old project scope) had a total vertical bird/bat collision area of approximately 752,592.082m2 (πr2 = 10,751.315m2 x 70 turbines). The amended scope of the project with only thirty two (32) wind turbines (new scope) will have a total vertical bird/bat collision area of 603,814.108m2 ( πr2 = 18,869.190m2 x 32). This equates to a reduction of 19.768% of vertical collision area as relevant to impacts listed in the EIR and EA. Not only has this disturbance area modified in terms of total area, but with the modified hub height and rotor diameter, the disturbance envelope has changed. 5. Wind turbine disturbance footprint - The approved seventy (70) wind turbine total disturbance footprint of the foundation construction is approximately: 70 x 400 m² = 28 000 m². The proposed disturbance footprint of the foundation construction of the thirty two (32) wind turbines is: 32 x 362 m² = 11 584 m² in extent. This equates to a forty one (41%) percent decrease in the overall disturbance footprint of the proposed thirty two (32) wind turbines. 6. Laydown areas for each turbine - The associated laydown areas of each individual turbine are approximately 2500 m² in extent. The total laydown area disturbance footprint for the approved seventy (70) wind turbines is: 70 x 2500 m² = 175 000 m² in extent versus the total laydown area disturbance footprint of thirty two (32) turbines which is: 32 x 2500 m² = 80 000m². This is a reduction in disturbance of approximately forty six (46%) percent. 7. Change in the layout plan - With modifications to turbine numbers the layout plan has also been modified. 8. Addition of 125 MW of battery storage (BESS). The EA amendment application is currently being reviewed and evaluated by DFFE.
