Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

DistinguishingFeatures: 

An irregularly shaped block of fine grained sandstone of a reddish brown color with a curled skeleton of a small vertebrate exposed along surface. The skeleton bears multiple visible osteoderms and has a well-prepared foot and ankle region.

The block has a maximum dimension of 24cm, a maximum width of 20cm, and a thickness of approximately 5cm.

Almost certainly from the Sinemurian upper Elliot Formation.

CollectorComment: 

Collected during the 1961 British South African palaeontology expeditions.

Provenance: 

From British SA site 27, Kromme Spruit 9, but also lists Majuba's Nek. this area has abundant Elliot Formation outcrop. Note that the matrix suggests strongly that the specimen is from the upper Elliot Formation.
