ProjectSummary:
Indentification and inventorying of the Vryheid-Voetpaddrif Railway Line, designed and constructed during 1898–1899 by the 'Departement van Spoorwegen' (Railways Department) of the South African Republic (ZAR).
This was the only railway line designed and constructed by the ZAR itself (i.e. not through a private company under consession) in the ZAR. The line ran from Vryheid to Voetpaddrif (Buffalo River).
The project, which took place during 08–09 May 2018 was undertaken by Nichoals Clarke (Faculty of Archtiecture, Delft University of Technology and Department of Architecture, University of Pretoria) and Roger Fisher (Department of Architecture, University of Pretoria).
