Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

Site Comments:
The proposed project area is located in the Steelpoort Valley approximately 15 km northeast of the project area. The development footprint is located on the De Goedverwachting 322KT. The approximate size of the development footprint is 4 ha.The development footprint area was dominated by low thorn bushes and dense vegetation making ground visibility difficult. 

The burial is approximately 1 m x 3 m in extent. It is located in the southern corner in relation to the proposed development plan. On this site there is one informal burial present surrounded by cut thorn bush branches as a makeshift fence. There are Stones encircling the grave mound. The condition is overgrown with cut thorn tree branches as a makeshift fence.

The site is located in the southern corner in relation to the infrastructure footprint with GPS coordinates of -24.78483; 30.14008.
