History: Ravenswood House is the only known example in Cape Town of the late classical Georgian architectural style of the beginning of the 19th century. This double-storeyed building was probably erected between 1817 and 1835 by M. A. de Kock as one of a series of houses for letting and is situated on a part of the former Welgedaan Property which was granted to G. D. Vreeburg in 1707.
