Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation

History: The erf was purchased by the Colesberg Bank in 1861. A new building was erected in Oct
Visual Description: Murray Street elevation:
Giant blind aracades with cornices. Smooth edge pilasters supporting heavy cornice. Chimney above with small circular recess linked by diagonal walls to parapet. Stepped side parapet with string course.
Single storey lean-to with 6x6 sliding sash windows.

Front elevation:
Double storey with flat roof and cornice supporting elaborate pediment above.
Symmetrical five bay facade.
Smooth edge pilasters and smooth opening surrounds. Loggia removed.
No stoep but stone paving and wing walls.
6x6 double sliding sash windows on ground floor. Timber French doors to projecting verandah.
6-panel door. Fanlight replaced.
Excellent condition. Virtually original appearance.

Annex to museum:
Single storey with flat roof and cornice supporting elaborate pediment above.
Asymmetrical three bay facade.
Smooth edge pilaster to right hand side and smooth framed opening surrounds.
No stoep.
6x6 double sliding sash windows to front and side facades.
Modern door.
Excellent condition. Virtually original appearance.
