History: This house stands on land granted to Pieter Canzius van Blommestein in 1819; it was a trifle over 8 morgen in extent. In the same year he built a house, now demolished, on the upper part of the farm (see Elliott, 881). The farm was transferred in 1821 to Jacob Nicolaas de Villiers, Piete/sn, the sixteenth child of the builder of Landskroon and the grandfather of Lord de Villiers, Chief Justice. In 1838 it was transferred to Rosina M. Adams, presumably a widow. In 1843, 3 portions were sold off, totalling just over half the area. The present house stands on one of these portions, and was probably built by a certain Jason Adams, probably a son of Rosina.

Visual Description: It is an L-shaped house, with door, windows and gable (with pediment but without pilasters) all dating from c1840. It has stepped end-gables. N of the house and now on a different property, there is what must have been a wine-cellar: it dates from roughly the same time. It has good woodwork, including typical unglazed cellar-windows with half-round heads and iron spoke-fans.

Construction Date: 1819
