Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

History: Present station building was built in 1900, to plans drawn in 1899, as part of an upgrading project on the part of the Natal Government Railways. The station was originally laid down in 1876-78 and was one of the first five stations built by the NGR.
Visual Description: Formed of two parts under one roof; these are divided by a passage which forms the entrance to the platform; corrugated iron roof with ventilated dormers and cupola; constructed of face brick with polychromous bands; cast-iron verandah supports. Interior; cast-iron supports to waiting-room benches. three fireplaces with cast-iron grate and surrounds inlaid with Victorian tiles; large mirror above waiting-room fireplace. Alteration; replica cupola erected when building re-roofed; certain additions for security purposes.
