Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Archive Import: Beachwood Mangrove Swamp was declared a nature reserve in 1980, and extensive research has been done to restore the area to enable the mangroves to re-establish themselves. The site belongs to the state.
History: Mangrove swamps are one of the rarest and most scientifically interesting ecosystems that occur in the highly specialised tidal environment. The Beachwood Mangroves are of significant botanical, educational and, historical value because they are situated close to one of our country's largest cities with a variety of important educational institutions.Beachwood Mangrove Swamp was declared a nature reserve in 1980 and extensive research is being done .
Visual Description: Consists of trees and bushes growing between the high spring tide and mean sea level.
