Archive Import: A fine example of rural architecture of Natal, with wrap-around verandahs. Importance is enhanced due to association with George Morris Sutton, fifth PrimeMinister of Natal and one of the pioneers regarding utilization of wattle trees.
History: Built for Sir George Sutton, 5th Prime Minister of Colony of Natal, 1903-04. Other sources give date of construction 1872.
Visual Description: Steeply pitched hipped roof with dormers and gabled extensions. Roof flared over veranda of West win. Ironstone, flush jointed; Interior: floorsand ceilings of oregon; attic of yellowood; sliding sash and casement windows with low cills,French doors;Alterations; Extension of house at both ends of L-shape.
