Site Comments:

the ‘Daggaboer’ Farmstall was built only a few years ago. The structure itself is thus not formally protected under the NHRA 1999 (a SAHRA Site Significance assignation is by implication irrelevant). Affection for the site as a contemporary cultural landmark grew quickly amongst the greater Karoo community, as evidenced by the inclusion thereof in the Marais & du Toit (2009) publication ‘Karoo Keepsakes’ in the section ‘The grass is greener…’ (pp198-199). The book, a collection of affectionate token places, people and cultural traditions, amongst others, across the greater Karoo provides a contemporary value based collection of typical stand out features to a degree defining contemporary Karoo culture.
