Site CRS1 is located at the entrance to a secondary contemporary residence on the development area. The site comprises of the ruined remains of a former residence inferred to have been the original farm residence / main residence relating to the former Umtiza Nature Reserve. The structure, constructed from shingle and cement, is no longer in use. Both the exterior and interior have been stripped completely of all fittings and trimmings, including the roof, floors, doors, window panes and frames etc. Deterioration has taken its toll; large exterior and interior cracks are beyond structural repair and renovation for re-use is not considered a possibility. No related archaeological midden material was identified in the vicinity of the site. The date of construction of Site CRS1 remains unknown but is inferred to date to the period 1930- 1950.
