Site Comments:

BKS1310/2627BA/BE011 is the ruins of a residential building located approximately 40 m north of the proposed HDS treatment plant. This commercial structure was most likely a horse farm. This building was not identified in the historical aerial photographs from 1938 but the building was identified on the 2006 topographical map of 2627 BA Randfontein. Based
on the results from the cartographic survey, it can be suggested that the old horse farm located on Randfontein 247 IQ is a recent commercial development. Immediate threats can include threats such as corrosion or vandalism, or development such as drilling and site clearing. Potential sources of threats and risk include the proposed development of pipelines and the HDS treatment plant. The construction of the proposed HDS treatment plant and associated infrastructure may cause alteration, damage to or destruction of historical buildings and structures older than 60 years.
