One dolerite boulder was decorated with scratch engravings depicting a man and a woman . Both figures are dressed in clothes typical of the colonial period or early 20th century in South Africa. The man had the name Shalk engraved under him and the women was given the name Mieta. They were most probably made by a sheep herder at the turn of the 20th century. Above the human depictions is a very faded engraving of a horse. Similar colonial period rock engravings do occur near the Sneeuberg Mountains and has been the subject of intensive studies (Van der Merwe, 1984).
