Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

FOUNDATIONS OF MAIN BETA MINE STRUCTURES: There are very few traces of the foundations. (See the list of buildings, which were demolished by the TGME mine after 1986, in the above text) The current remains consist of that of the electric substation /compressor house 50 metres to the north of the main Beta shaft. The shaft has recently been opened up and is being prepared for the planned mining activities. Further associated with the site is the remains of the ore bin, foundations of the footbridge over the Blyde river and the main waste rock dump of the Beta Mine.
