Case Type:

ProposalDescription:

Alterations and additions to a structure that is or may be expected to be older than 60 years old section 33 (1)(a) of the KZN Heritage Act.

Expanded_Motivation:

Historical Significance: This is possibly an old farmhouse but upon research there appears to be no known record either verbal or on plan or other to support this. There is no proof of the age of this house or who built it but it can be assumed to be older than 60years due to the style and construction of it. Architectural Significance: As there appears to be no knowledge of the history of this house the only architectural significance is the construction of the building itself. the suspended wooden floors, high ceilings and style of windows and doors signify that the house was probably built in the early 1900s. Urban Setting & Adjoining Properties: The house is set in a quiet residential part of Kloof on a subdivded property and is surrounded by fairly modern houses (50yrs or less) which don't appear to have any bearing or connection to this house or original farm if this is in fact an old farm house.
