ProposalDescription:

Alterations and Renovations to the Nongoma Agricultural Office on Lot 64,65 and 66, Main Road Nongoma, Kwazulu Natal

Expanded_Motivation:

Moffett & Associates Architects has been commissioned by the Department of Public Works to repair and renovate the above mentioned building. The building is a state building and the Department of Public Works is the custodian thereof. There are no plans of the building that we are aware of. We think that the building was originally used by the local Magistrates Office. The building is currently used as offices by the Department of Agriculture. From our visual inspection, the building envelope and the internal brick walls are all original. The building’s roof leaks and the building no longer complies with the National Building Regulations. We request permission to: • Remove the roof and replace with corrugated sheeting to match the existing profile • Chase all surface mounted conduiting into the walls and make good • Replace and remodel the toilets to comply with National Building Regulations • Replace all doors with purpose made doors to match existing doors • Replace all windows with purpose made windows to match existing and comply with the National Building Regulations • Replace all ceilings and install a cassetted A/C, heater system • Replace timber floors with concrete floors and porcelain tiles • Install power skirting (even though I hate the stuff) • Leave the external envelope as is and move certain internal walls • Install ramps to comply with National Building Regulations • Dig up concrete courtyards and replace with planting • Replace all storm water and sewer piping into Municipal systems • Paint internally and externally • Re-instate a plinth to the building
