Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Expanded_Motivation: 

A simple Edwardian cottage built in approx. 1910 with symmetrical street elevation, doric veranda columns and small centre pediment on the veranda roof. Suspended timber floors and timber frame casement windows, all existing timberwork damaged by borer and damp. The front room was altered in the early 1920's and a bathroom added. The masonry structure has subsided and vertical cracks are visible. The North neighbour is a similar scale building that has been modernised. The South neighbour is a gable-veranda house and is of a similar scale to no.94. Opposite neighbours are double storey residences, modern and refurbished buildings Juniper is a narrow one-way street. A permit for extensive alterations and additions that retained the front portion of the house was issued on 02/12/2021. The owner has had the house assessed again before construction and has found that the existing structure will not withstand the alterations and would have to be reconstructed if following the approved plan. He would therefore like to apply for a full demolition, to build a modern house that makes better use of the site.
