HeritageAuthority(s):

Case Type:

ProposalDescription:

Alterations and repairs to the Strachan Memorial Hall and the construction of the new Town Hall adjacent to it. The permit was issued on the 06 November 2019 and this application serves as a request to extend the validity of the permit beyond 05 November 2022 due to delays completing the work.

Expanded_Motivation:

The work entails the restoration of the hall, including some deconstruction and reconstruction of the roof and other elements damaged through the neglect of the site while work was halted due to contractual issues. The hall is to be converted to a museum and coffee shop and will serve as an entrance to the new main hall. Work is currently underway but the permit will expire and a request for the extension of the permit issued on the 06 November 2019 has been submitted. Work has been delayed due to the accidental death of the structural engineer and issues with appointing a replacement engineer on the project team.
