Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

Following comments received on the proposed Revised Schedule of Fees for applications made to the South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA), made in terms of Section 25(2)(l) of the National Heritage Resources Act No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) and published in the Government Gazette of 22 July 2022, SAHRA hereby publishes the final Revised Schedule of Fees for Applications made to SAHRA. Applications for provision of services submitted to the South African Heritage Resources Authority (SAHRA), in terms of the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of 1999 (NHRA) must be accompanied by a payment of the appropriate fee, taking effect from 1 January 2023

Two Rivers Platinum (TRP) is an existing platinum mine in Limpopo province. The mine was authorised and began operation in 2004. Since the start of mining certain listed activities (in terms of NEMA) commenced without authorisation. This application is to rectify these activities. Initial Heritage Impact Assessments were conducted prior to the start of mining, but not prior to the start of the unauthorised activities (these were all undertaken with the existing mining operation and foorprint). Limpopo Province.

Expanded_Motivation: 

Two Rivers Platinum (TRP) is an existing platinum mine in Limpopo province. The mine was authorised and began operation in 2004. Since the start of mining certain listed activities (in terms of NEMA) commenced without authorisation. These activities include: 1) Re-design of the existing tailings storage facility, which resulted in an increased tailings dam footprint. 2) The construction of additional pollution control dams 3) Installation of 3 sewage plants 4) Haul road upgrade (widening) 5) Establishment of an emergency lay-down area under the conveyor The existing Heritage Impact Assessment reports, conducted in 2001 and 2002, prior to the start of mining, were used as reference for compilation of the EIA/EMP required by LDEDET for assessment of the Sec24G Application, since they provide baseline information and the locations of Heritage Sites of importance. No heritage sites were impacted on as part of the unauthorised activities.
