Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Filming at Rising Star Cave for documentary

1. Crew members on site during filming will be Robert Waldron (Director), Willem Viljoen (Director of photography), Thelma Roos (Production Co-ordinator), Cat Hall (camera and sound assistant).

2. Monitoring and supervision must be done by Prof. Lee Berger (University of the Witwatersrand).

3. Filming will take place at the entrance of the Rising Star cave.

4. Filming equipment consists of two vehicles (Toyota Fortuner 4x4 and a Kombi equipment vehicle), 4K production camera, Sony F55 and lenses and accessories, some LED light panels, a second unit Panasonic camera, a small GoPro camera, various tripods and support equipment, radio microphones for interviews, video monitor, a 4K camera drone and accessories.

5. Filming will take place for the duration of 1 September 2017 to 1 October 2017.

6. The amount of traffic, i.e. numbers of people on site, should be minimised as much as possible to avoid excessive disturbance of the site.

7. A report on activities related to the permit must be submitted to SAHRA on or before the 31 October 2017. SAHRA reserves the right to withhold further permits if a report is not received or is not satisfactory.

8. Copies of the filming resulting from this work must be lodged with SAHRA on or before the 31 October 2018.

9. SAHRA acknowledges the submitted landowner permission to film at the entrance of the Rising Star cave.

10. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

11. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit upon notice to the permit holder.

12. This permit is subject to a general appeal and may be suspended should an appeal against the decisions be received by SAHRA within 14 days from the date of the permit. SAHRA may not be held responsible for any costs or losses incurred in the event of the suspension or retraction of this permit.

13. Request to renew permits must be done at least two months prior to the expiry of the existing permit.
