This permit is issued to Dr Catherine Namono (Rock Art Research Institute, University of Witwatersrand) to conduct conservation work at the Rock Art Site - Bon Esperance 16 (BOE 16), Seshego District, Limpopo Province. The conservation work will consists of the removal of bird and bat droppings, dust removal from the rock art panel.
Conditions:
- If the permit holder is not to be present on the site at all times then the heritage authority must be provided with the names and qualifications of the authorised representatives.
- The detailed plan of the site must be done, and a full photographic record of the affected surfaces must be made before and after removal.
- A record must be made of all methods used to remove the bird and bat droppings and the dust removal.
- The cleaning methods will consists of the use of distilled water and soft brushes and sponges.
- A standard site record form must be lodged with the Rock Art Research Institute.
- A final report is due on or before 30 April 2020.
- Reprints of all published papers or copies of theses and/or reports resulting from this work must be lodged with the heritage authority.
- If a published report has not appeared within three years of the lapsing of this permit, the report required in terms of the permit will be made available to researchers on request.
- It is the responsibility of the permit holder to obtain permission from the landowner for each visit, and conditions of access imposed by the landowner must be observed.
- The heritage authority shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
- The heritage authority reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.
