Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

This permit is issued to Nkosinathi Ntokozo Phungula (Soulistic Agency) for the production of a musical event featuring DJ Black Coffee at Sterkfontein Caves between 25 -28 September 2020.  The main event will take place on 27 September in the auditorium. Limited filming will take place inside the cave. 

Conditions

  1. Any changes to the production schedule must be communicated to SAHRA.
  2. SAHRA noted the names of crew on site during filming and will total 26 individuals. 
  3. The filming will be monitored by Prof. Dominic Stratford  (Wits), Dr Keneiloe Molopyane (Maropeng) and Ms Paballo Mohafa (COHWHS). Such monitoring should take place at all times when your crew is on site.
  4. Dr Stratford must be consulted prior to activities commencing on site to advise the crew on any  sensitive areas which must be avoided.
  5. The amount of traffic, i.e. numbers of people on site, should be minimized as much as possible to avoid excessive disturbance of the site.
  6. The landowner requirements must be adhered to at all times, including all Covid-19 related health and safety protocols.
  7. It is noted that a maximum of 5 people will be allowed inside the cave at any one point. 
  8. The volume of sound generated inside the cave must be kept below 70 DB.
  9. LED lighting to be used and the power cable must follow the route of the existing cabling.
  10. Consumption of food and soft drinks is not allowed inside the cave. Catering areas must be clearly demarcated. 
  11. A report on activities related to the permit must be submitted to SAHRA by 31 October 2020. The permit report must include detailed photographs of load in of gear and stage-build and load out of gear.

  13. Reprints of all films resulting from this work must be lodged with SAHRA.
  14. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to obtain permission from the landowner for each visit, and the applicant is responsible for ensuring that he or she has an understanding with the landowner concerning: the number of visitors and workers; speed limits on access roads; possible prohibitions on off-road driving; size, type and number of vehicles permitted; possible prohibitions on trespassing beyond the site; disturbing fauna, flora or substrate; appropriate hours of visiting and working on the site; use of electricity and water; lighting fires and the prevention of uncontrolled fires and any fencing necessary to protect livestock. Conditions of access imposed by the landowner must be observed.
  15. The applicant shall be responsible for the activities and impacts of all colleagues and employees under his or her supervision and for their compliance with the terms of the permit.
  16. It is the responsibility of the permit holder to protect sites during and after filming and to) to the satisfaction of the heritage authority and the landowner.
  17. The heritage authority shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.
  18. The heritage authority reserves the right to cancel this permit upon notice to the permit holder.
