Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

This permit is issued to Prof Anusuya Chinsamy-Turan (University of Cape Town), on behalf of Mr Mohammed Fay-yaad Toefy (University of Cape Town) for invasive sampling of seven (7) limb bones of selected sauropod specimens Plateosauravus and Euskelosaurus for osteohistological analysis at the University of Cape Town. The material is currently housed at Iziko Museums of South Africa.

Conditions:

1. As the sampling will reduce the structural integrity, suitable records (3D scanning, measurements, photographs) must be taken prior to sampling as per the conditions in the consent letter from Iziko Museums of South Africa.

2. Sampling and analysis will take place at the University of Cape Town.

3. Any other conditions by the accessioning institution apply.

4. A permit report on the activities undertaken in terms of this permit must be emailed to apmpermitreports@sahra.org.za before 30 June 2023 using the template in the following link: https://sahris.sahra.org.za/content/apmpermitreports. SAHRA reserves the right to withhold further permits if progress is not deemed satisfactory. Permit reports can be made available to researchers on request within three years of the lapsing of this permit.

5. Copies of all the published papers and/or reports resulting from this work must be lodged with the heritage authority.

6. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries by or to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

7. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit by notice to the permit holder.

8. This permit is subject to a general appeal and may be suspended should an appeal against the decisions be received by SAHRA within 14 days from the date of the permit. SAHRA may not be held responsible for any costs or losses incurred in the event of the suspension or retraction of this permit.

9. Request to renew permits must be done at least two months prior to the expiry of the existing permit.
