Changes to SAHRIS!

The South African Heritage Resources Information System (SAHRIS) has undergone a generational upgrade and restructure. These changes to the site include, but are not limited to:

  • A new & modernised look and layout
  • Improved site usage flows with respect to applications and content creation
  • Improved site performance and stability

Launch for the new version of SAHRIS occurred on Monday the 30th of October 2023.

This permit is issued subject to the following conditions: -

  1. 1.       That the alterations, additions, and/or demolition are carried out strictly in accordance with TRANSNET CAPITAL PROJECTS drawing no 2088053-6-300-A-LA-1001-01-0A, 2088053-6-175-A-LA-1001-01-0A, 2088053-6-175-A-SC-1001-01-0A, 2088053-6-100-A-LA-1002-01-0A, 2088053-6-300-A-, 2088053-6-100-A-LA-0003-01-0A, 2088053-6-100-A-SC-1001-01-0A, 2088053-6-000-A-LA-1002-01-0A, 2088053-6-100-A-LA-1001-01-0A, dated 10/10/19;
  2. 2.        That, in the event of any contemplated deviation from the approved plans – including the transfer of the work to the supervision of another architect/technologist –a   written motivation in support of the deviations must be submitted to the Amafa and Research Institute for consideration and the prior written approval of the Amafa and Research Institute must be obtained, before any deviations are carried out;
  3. 3.        In the case of the demolition of a structure/s or part thereof, such demolition must take place not more than 30 days prior to the commencement of the new work, unless otherwise agreed to, in writing, by the Amafa and Research Institute;
  4. 4.        Any salvageable items not required for re-use in the project must be offered to the Amafa Conservation Materials Bank and all salvageable elements identified must be delivered to the Amafa Conservation Materials Bank, Pietermaritzburg, at the Applicant’s cost.
  5. 5.        Where archaeological material or human remains are uncovered during excavation, the Amafa and Research Institute must be contacted immediately in order to determine the significance of the find and mitigation required (a professional archaeologist may need to be employed).
  6. 6.        The issuing of this permit does not exempt the Applicant from obtaining the approval of the Local Authority or any other Authority, where required, for the proposed additions and or alterations.

 

THE KWAZULU-NATAL AMAFA AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO WITHDRAW THIS PERMIT IF ANY OF THE ABOVE CONDITIONS ARE NOT COMPLIED WITH. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE CONDITIONS WILL RENDER ANY DEVIATION FROM THE ORIGINAL (PLANS) UNLAWFUL, AND THE INSTITUTE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO TAKE CRIMINAL AND/OR CIVIL ACTION AGAINST THE PERSON/S RESPONSIBLE.
