Permits

The permit is issued to Mr Justin Yarrow (CodeMaker) for filming at at Lincoln cave within the Sterkfontein cave system, Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, Gauteng. Five artists from The Hidden Hand Studios are contracted to create an animation pilot.

Conditions:

1. Crew members on site during filming will be The Hidden Hand Studios artists Ross Lelliott, Lesego Vorster, Tumelo Thabane, Josh Penniken and Tshepo Sefadi.

2. Monitoring and supervision will be done by Dr Dominic Stratford (University of the Witwatersrand).

3. Filming will take place in the Lincoln cave within the Sterkfontein cave system, Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site.

4. Filming equipment consists of cell phone cameras.

5. Filming will take place for the duration of 3 hours on 14 April 2023.

6. The amount of traffic, i.e. numbers of people on site, should be minimised as much as possible to avoid excessive disturbance of the site.

7. A report on activities related to the permit must be submitted to SAHRA on or before the 31 December 2023. SAHRA reserves the right to withhold further permits if a report is not received or is not satisfactory.

8. SAHRA acknowledges the submitted landowner permission to film at Lincoln cave (Sterkfontein cave system).

9. SAHRA shall not be liable for any losses, damages or injuries to persons or properties as a result of any activities in connection with this permit.

10. This permit is subject to a general appeal and may be suspended should an appeal against the decisions be received by SAHRA within 14 days from the date of the permit. SAHRA may not be held responsible for any costs or losses incurred in the event of the suspension or retraction of this permit.

11. SAHRA reserves the right to cancel this permit upon notice to the permit holder.
