ProposalDescription:

Alterations and Additions to structure which is older than 60 years(Section 33(1)(a) of the Heritage Act), to Sub 77 (of 6) of the Farm Albinia No. 957, 18 Garden Road, Graceland Estate, Hillcrest, Durban, Ethekwini, KwaZulu-Natal. Drawing: VP4745 Sheet 1 of 1

Expanded_Motivation:

This drawing is showing the existing Main Dwelling on the property, which had a fire break out and damage the building. The Retirement Village is currently rebuilding the Community Center to match existing, as per previous Amafa Approval in 2021. The Retirement Village wish to make minor internal changes, by opening the dining room up by demolishing the wall with two arch ways to create a bigger dining hall. They would like brick up a door by the existing entrance as that particular room already has an entrance. Propose demolishing the four doorways leading from the passage into the lounge and dining room and replacing with double doors with fanlight to match the existing style. The Retirement Village would also like to propose a disabled bathroom, to accommodate for the elderly, by making minimal changes as well as allowing the use of natural light into both bathrooms. The retirement Village aims to keep the heritage of the Community Center in tact.
